VENGEANCE IS OF GOD
Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Romans 12:19 (KJV)
Sometimes people hurt us, betray us, or treat us unfairly. We may feel like paying them back, but God commands us not to take revenge. He sees every injustice and knows the truth. Our responsibility is to trust Him and allow Him to judge righteously.
Three Lessons
1. God sees everything.
Hebrews 4:13 reminds us that nothing is hidden from God. Even when people misunderstand us, God knows the truth.
2. Do not repay evil with evil.
Romans 12:21 says, “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” Do not allow another person's wickedness to change your character.
3. Leave judgment to God.
Joseph forgave his brothers despite the evil they did to him (Genesis 50:19–20). Like Joseph, we must trust God to bring good out of painful situations.
Beloved, do not waste your life seeking revenge. Forgive those who hurt you, protect yourself when necessary, and continue doing what is right. Remember, forgiveness is your responsibility, but vengeance belongs to God.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, give me the grace to forgive those who hurt me. Heal my heart from bitterness and anger. Help me to trust Your justice and timing. Fight my battles and teach me to walk in love and righteousness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
